Abstract
This study conceptualizes cura communitatis as a contemporary bridge between cura personalis and cura apostolica for Jesuit higher educational institutions. A review of related literature suggests this concept as a possible means for Jesuit IHEs to respond to the realities of the coronavirus pandemic and the psychological, social, spiritual, and economic challenges which have resulted from dealing with this global health crisis. The author surfaces the shared desire in AJCU institutions to care for one another and our shared relationships as pilgrims during a global phenomenon that has demanded physical distancing. The study explores the ways in which this desire requires subsequent communal discernment that leads to the notion cura communitatis. The article is organized in three sections to guide the development of and application of the concept: Lessons from the Pandemic, Strategies for Cura Communitatis, and Responses to the Enactment of Cura Communitatis.
