Abstract

The focus of this study was to better understand male clinicians-in-training's perceptions of female clients, peers, and faculty and how those perceptions may impact their interactions. In this study, 10 male clinicians-in-training's perceptions related to gender with respect to female clients, peers, and faculty were explored by engaging in semi-structured interviews, responding to journal prompts, and providing artifacts. The findings supported a need for a focus on gender, as well as increased sensitivity to gender and gender issues, and the importance of clinician self-awareness. © Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
